Parksville is best known for it’s sandy beaches and summer festivals. The city’s best-known annual event, since 1982, is a sandcastle-building competition in the summer, dubbed “Parksville Beachfest”. Beachfest is a World Championship Sand Sculpting official qualification event.
Qualicum Beach, BC
Qualicum’s natural beauty, small-town charm, and proximity to Victoria and Vancouver have made it a popular tourist destination, with many rental cottages dotting its coast. It is also a popular retirement community. It is informally considered a twin city with neighbouring Parksville.
Lasqueti Island, BC
Lasqueti Island is an island off the east coast of Vancouver Island in the Strait of Georgia, and is home to about 425 year-round residents. A passenger-only ferry connects the island to the community of French Creek, near Parksville. The ferry makes two to three runs per day, five days per week, weather permitting.
French Creek, Bowser, Hilliers, and Errington
These small, rural communities on the outskirts of Parksville-Qualicum have interesting opportunities for real estate, home builders, and anyone looking for a unique and inexpensive homestead.
